Pacificpoker.com – The Greatest Inventions for Poker

www.pacificpoker.com - Depending on the individual, you might say the best invention in terms of poker would be sunglasses, the internet, or any number of things, but I would choose something rather different. Firstly though, I should give a mention to the cards themselves, our humble deck of playing cards. These cards were developed over hundreds of years, a journey which took them from Asia, across Europe, and on to America, without these we would not have poker at all.
Casinos with their felt tables and comfortable chairs made the game a much more relaxing one of course and we should be thankful for that, but the online poker rooms took this comfort to a new level. Sitting at home playing poker in their dressing gown, or whilst sprawled across a sofa are thousands of people who now could not imagine poker without their online game, and the ease with which they can participate.
Personally though, when it comes to the best invention for poker, my vote goes to the under table camera that shows players hole cards in televised games. Before this invention, players were filmed sat around a table thinking, for the most part. This holds little entertainment value on it’s own, but once you introduce a camera showing poker enthusiasts exactly what decision they are trying to make, it gives the televised game a whole new dimension.
Just think about how many players took up poker after watching the televised tournaments with under table cameras. This is because they can start to work out and understand the game of poker in this way with the help of the commentators.
