When you choose to play aggressively at PokerHeave.com, sooner or later, other players will realise this, whether by the deduction that you cannot have a hand every time you are raising, or by catching you bluffing. Either way, you can use this aggression to your favour if the right circumstance comes along.

One hand on the latest installment of ‘High Stakes Poker’ demonstrated this perfectly when Tom Dwan got a usually cautious Barry Greenstein, to commit over $250,000 to top pair on the flop when Dwan was out in front with (A,A). The amount of action Dwan had been involved in previously meant that players did not attach a great deal of strength to his raises.
As an aggressive player, you should be aware that the longer your aggression goes on, the less strength players are going to attach to these bets, and you should be slowing down with the bluffing in this instance I feel. The ideal situation at Poker Heaven is to use this perception of you to capitalise when you pick up a strong hand. Unfortunately for Dwan, his story did not have a happy ending as he was very unlucky to have his Aces cracked by Barry’s turned two pair. But then outdraws are part of online poker and there isn’t anything we can do other accept the beat with good grace.
In my recent live event at PokerHeaven I had a similar situation go right for me after I had played loosely for the first half hour or so. I picked up (Q,Q) and managed to get second pair to call my all in bet on a Jack high flop due to my previous loose play. My hand held up, and after losing about 2,000 in the first half hour, I suddenly made 5,000 back.
