Not reading the potential dangers the board cards hold when choosing to slow play at StripPoker, is rather similar to crossing a road without looking. You might get away with it once..twice.. even three times, but sooner or later you are going to regret it.

Slow playing at StipPoker.co.uk is really only a way to try and extract a few extra chips from a position of power, and so for it to be a profitable play for you in the long run, it has to work many times before it backfires and you end up letting a player outdraw you. Slow playing used to be something I used quite often as I always wanted to extract something from those strong hands that don’t come along too often in online poker.

These days though, I use it a little more sparingly, and I certainly look both ways first.

If you flop a strong hand, you should always be looking for possible ways your opponents can take the lead in the hand. if we have (10,10) for instance and the flop falls (10,J,K) there really isn’t any need to slow play this hand. The reasoning I say this is firstly, that if for instance, a (Q) falls on the Turn, suddenly that player who was wondering if their (A,J) was good…now knows it is, and you are left needing the board to pair in order to stay alive. This is the same if an (A) falls on the turn, it opens up a big problem for you which you don’t want.

The second reason not to slow play this scenario at StripPoker is that there are cards such as the King and Jack that make someone top pair or two pair far more often than a 6 high flop will. this is because of the number of hands containing a (6) that people muck instantly before the flop. If someone is calling preflop with (A,K) or (K,Q) betting will probably induce them to call with the worst hand.

You can still get outdrawn even if you bet to protect your hand of course, and you should never start counting your chips until you know you have the best of it.
